Back Stage Series
I feel so attached and so excited when I'm working in my studio on any of my backstage paintings. I have a history with the Nutcracker ballet and worked a number of years in professional theatre. If I were young and could still sing and dance I would be doing just that and not painting.
What could be better than being surrounded by music, lights, movement, costumes, and dark rich passage ways. These paintings are probably my most photo dependent works because an artist simply can not be working backstage during the very quick paced and tightly cramped area backstage. However I truly believe that my familiarity with this magical world helps to bring the excitement of it all to life.
